Acorns Children's Hospice
Acorns Children’s Hospice is the UK’s largest Children’s Hospice charity. Founded in Birmingham in 1988, Acorns Children’s Hospice provides care, support, fun and laughter for children with life limiting or life threatening conditions and their families. We support children and families from across the West Midlands region, offering both residential care and community outreach work from three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester. In the last year alone, we have helped care for more than 860 children, and 1060 families, with care and post-bereavement support. We employ more than 400 staff, and have an amazing network of more than a 1000 volunteers, many of whom work directly in our hospices. We raise more than £10m a year, 30% from Government sources, and 70% from voluntary supporters. We also have a network of 54 charity shops. Everyone who works at Acorns shares incredible pride at the impact we know we have, and at the support we enjoy from so many individuals, communities and businesses across the West Midlands. Acorns will celebrate our 30th anniversary in December 2018.
