How to prepare for a last-minute job interview

Sometimes it'll feel like a hiring manager takes forever to get back to you with an interview appointment.

But other times they'll reply quicker than you think!

If you're heading into an interview at short notice, here's how to make the most of the little preparation time you have. There's no need to get caught off guard...

1. Find out who you're interviewing with

It can be easy to forget who replied to what email and which recruiter arranged which interview.

But always make sure you know who you’ll be meeting and their role in the company. It’s only a matter of a quick LinkedIn search!

2. Double check your CV

Firstly, just check over your CV a few times. When they ask you to describe a section in a bit more detail, will you be able to without hesitation?

Secondly, make sure the version you’re rehearsing is the same one you sent off. It can be easy to lose track of where and when you updated your CV.

3. Check their latest news

You'll get to understand the company by looking at the latest press releases or their news feed.

It’s a quick and easy way to get up to speed on the latest goings on without having to do too much prep!

4. Read the company's "about us" section

On that note, get to know the company’s broader message and aims.

It’s especially handy if you haven’t had time to thoroughly research potential employers until this point.

This is their sales pitch to you. Now it's up to you to go into that interview room armed with this knowledge and base your own pitch around it!

5. Pick 3 questions to ask at the end

Remember, this is always a crucial element to any interview process – both on a practical level, and a way of demonstrating your enthusiasm.

Pick at least three questions you’ll want to ask at the end of the interview. You can get help with that here.
