Today’s announcement that the Scottish people have voted to remain part of the United Kingdom is likely to boost employers’ confidence in the jobs market, says Hudson.

“We have seen an uplift in the Scottish jobs market throughout 2014 on the back of an improving Scottish and wider UK economy. Many employers have stepped up their recruitment activity in response, after a prolonged period of cost control and headcount freezes” says Brian Cameron, Hudson’s regional director in Scotland.

“The run up to the referendum created a degree of uncertainty and many employers will have been cautious, adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach.

“The outcome of the referendum provides much needed certainty for employers and we anticipate activity levels will continue to increase as employers feel more confident about the prospects for the UK economy and Scotland’s role in it.”
